Jaramillo Celebrates Five Wins, Including Three Stakes Races, Saturday At Gulfstream

Jockey Emisael Jaramillo enjoyed a banner day on Saturday’s Juvenile Showcase program at Gulfstream Park, riding the winners of five races, including three stakes.

The 42-year-old Venezuela native scored stakes victories aboard Shivaree ($10.80) in the Buffalo Man (Race 5) and Cheermeister ($28.20) in the Wait a While (Race 7) and Spanish Point ($6.40) in the House Party (Race 8) in addition to winning aboard Kozy Kat ($5.20) in Race 2 and Bad to the Core ($6) in Race 11.

“I feel very good and proud to win three stakes today and thankful to all the trainers who gave me the opportunity,” Jaramillo said.

Jaramillo was Venezuela’s all-time leading rider with more than 4,000 winners, including three Triple Crown winners, before venturing to South Florida in 2015. He has ridden more than 900 winners in the U.S. and has won four graded stakes aboard X Y Jet in the U.S., as well as the $2.5 million Golden Shaheen aboard the Jorge Navarro trainee on the 2019 Dubai World Cup card.

Jaramillo, who will be most active in the 2019 Clasico Internacional del Caribe card at Gulfstream Dec. 8, has ridden four winners of the Clasico del Caribe, the premier race for 3-year-olds from the Caribbean and Latin America.
