Skipshot, the sire of top turf mare Vasilika, has been relocated to Buck Pond Farm in Versailles, Ky., where he will stand the 2020 breeding season for an advertised fee of $5,000, BloodHorse reports.
The 12-year-old son of Skip Away previously stood at Considine Farm in Paris, Ky., where he entered stud in 2013. Douglas Arnold, owner of Buck Pond Farm, bought a 50-percent stake in the stallion, prompting the move.
Skipshot is best known at stud for his daughter Vasilika, who retired this year with 18 wins in 36 starts, including eight graded stakes wins, for earnings of $1,882,595. She finished a close second in this year’s Breeders’ Cup Filly and Mare Turf, then sold to Japan’s Katsumi Yoshida for $1.5 million at the Fasig-Tipton November sale.
On his own accord, Skipshot won five of 21 starts for $336,050, highlighted by a win in the Grade 2 Swaps Stakes at Hollywood Park.
Bred in Kentucky by Summer Wind Farm, Skipshot is out of the stakes-winning Sunny’s Halo mare Heavenly Note. He is a full-brother to Grade 3 winner Skip Code, from the family of Grade 1 winner Jackie Wackie and Puerto Rican Horse of the Year Coordinadora.
Elsewhere on the Buck Pond Farm stallion roster, Wildcat Red, a Grade 2 winner by D’Wildcat, will stand for $7,500. V.E. Day, a Grade 1-winning son of English Channel, will stand for $6,500, while Conveyance, a multiple Grade 3 winner by Indian Charlie, will stand for $3,500.
