76ers' Tyrese Maxey expected to miss multiple weeks with hamstring injury: Source

After a fourth straight loss, the Philadelphia 76ers are dealing with more bad news. Star point guard Tyrese Maxey is expected to miss a couple of weeks with a right hamstring injury, a team source confirmed Thursday. ESPN was first to report the news. Maxey will be re-evaluated later Thursday, per the source.

Maxey, 24, was ruled out early in the fourth quarter of Wednesday’s loss to the LA Clippers due to the injury. He scored 12 points and added one assist and one rebound in 32 minutes.

The 2024 All-Star is averaging a team-high 27.6 points this season. Philadelphia has been hoping to have its trio of Maxey, Joel Embiid and Paul George ready to play together, but due to a variety of issues, that has yet to happen this season.

Embiid, who missed the first two weeks of the season due to what the Sixers are calling “left knee injury management,” is currently serving a three-game suspension for shoving a reporter in the locker room. He will be eligible to return on Nov. 12 against the New York Knicks.

George debuted in Monday’s game against the Suns and played Wednesday against the Clippers — a 110-98 loss that dropped the Sixers to 1-6 — after missing the start of the season with a knee injury.

This story will be updated.
