Manchester United are confident that neither their new chief executive Omar Berrada or any other staff recruited from Manchester City will be implicated in the 115 financial charges levelled at the Premier League champions.
Despite joining United in mid-July, Berrada was the only witness who represented City at Benjamin Mendy’s employment tribunal earlier this week to respond to claims that the Frenchman was promised £11million in back-dated pay if he was cleared of sex offences.
It has raised concerns that United’s CEO and other ex-City staff could be dragged into a separate hearing that began last month to rule on allegations that City breached Premier League financial regulations.
There is no suggestion whatsoever of any wrongdoing by Berrada himself.

However, he was director of partnerships before becoming City’s chief football operations officer and sponsorship deals are central to the Premier League’s case.
A tribunal last week ruled on a number of issues relating to APT (associated party transactions) in the dispute over sponsorships between City and the Premier League which are relevant to the 115 charges made against the club.
