Bears Flexed into Afternoon Slot for Week 8 vs. Commanders

After much speculation about the Chicago Bears‘ Week 8 matchup with the Washington Commanders being flexed to a later start time, a decision has been made. Coming off of the bye week, Caleb Williams and the Bears will be playing in the 3:25 p.m. CT time slot on CBS against the Jayden Daniels-led Commanders.

The decision bumps the Philadelphia Eagles vs. Cincinnati Bengals game up to the noon time slot on CBS. Who knew we lived in a world where a Bears game would be a higher priority than Joe Burrow against Jalen Hurts?

The game will highlight the No. 1 overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, Caleb Williams, going against the No. 2 overall pick, Jayden Daniels. Those two players are the frontrunners for Offensive Rookie of the Year, and both teams are off to good starts with the playoffs in their sights.

The Commanders currently sit at 4-1 entering their Week 7 matchup with the Carolina Panthers. There’s a good chance the Commanders will be 5-1 entering Week 8 against the Chicago.

Meanwhile, the Bears sit at 4-2 as they enter their Week 7 bye. Matt Eberflus has made a habit of being competitive coming off the bye week since becoming the Bears head coach in 2022. In 2022, the Bears lost to the NFC champion Eagles 25-20. In 2023, they beat the playoff-bound Detroit Lions 28-13 after the bye.
