Except for breaking news, journalists working for France Télévisions will now no longer travel by plane to report on events taking place inside France.
“We asking everyone to take the train instead,” said Alexandre Kara, editor-in-chief at the French national public television broadcaster, citing the climate crisis.
Taking climate issues into account is a “strategic axis” at France Télévisions, Kara told the AFP.
The broadcaster is also rolling out a new way of presenting weather bulletins, where on-screen experts explain not just the weather but also the climate and how it is being affected by humans.
“We will no longer rejoice that it is 25 degrees in Biarritz in February without explaining why,” said Kara.
