Spy photographers have snapped next year’s all-new Mini Cooper SE EV in the streets of Los Angeles, ahead of its launch at the Shanghai motor show this month.
The all-new front-drive Mini Cooper SE EV is planned to be on the streets towards the middle of 2024 with up to 400km of range.
Sources suggest there could be up to three different battery sizes for the hatchback: a 40kWh lithium-ion pack confirmed for the Mini, a 54kWh unit for the Cooper SE and there are rumblings of a 30kWh battery for city dwellers.
While the standard 40kWh battery will give the Mini 350km (218 miles) of range, the 54kWh unit should take the Cooper SE out to more than 400km (250 miles).
The first of the next-generation EV technology that will sit beneath every Mini, including the Countryman SUV and the Convertible, the Cooper SE Electric is a three-door hatch with a total redesign of the interior and exterior.
The interior will use a touchscreen to control its internal systems, which include advanced driver assistance systems for the first time.
The design is at its most cohesive at the rear, where it uses vertical triangular tail lights, with a black band tying them together across the liftback.
