GAME DAY: Team USA Lines Up Against Canada at U18 Women’s Worlds


 

ÖSTERSUND, Sweden – The 2023 U.S. Under-18 Women’s National Team wraps uppreliminary-round play at the IIHF Under-18 Women’s World Championship on Wednesday, facing off against rival Canada.  

Puck drop is set for 2 p.m. ET and can be viewed live on NHL Network. 

TODAY’S MATCHUP

Today’s meeting marks the final preliminary-round game for Team USA at the IIHF Under-18 Women’s World Championship. The team currently sits at 2-0-0-0 in the tournament, with a plus 10 goal differential, the highest of the championship. Team USA beat Sweden, 6-3, in its first game and topped Finland, 8-1 in its second. 

LAST TIME OUT

Behind five points (3G, 2A) from Maggie Scannell, the U.S. topped Finland, 8-1 in the second preliminary-round game of the 2023 IIHF Under-18 Women’s World Championship. Heading into the second period up just 2-1, the U.S. posted three goals in the second and third, while also converting on 3-of-4 power play opportunities. Layla Hemp made 19 saves in the victory.
