PETER SCHMEICHEL has ripped into Manchester United following their defeat to rivals City after they were outclassed at the Etihad.
Pep Guardiola’s side eased to a 4-1 victory on Sunday with Kevin De Bruyne and Riyad Mahrez scoring twice each.
After a spirited first half performance where the Red Devils went into the break trailing 2-1, the visitors completely downed tools in the second period.
In the final ten minutes of the derby, United completed just 16 passes, while they also failed to register a single shot in the second half.
There was also a 15 minute period late into the game when Ralf Rangnick’s men had just EIGHT percent of possession.
And club legend Peter Schmeichel tore into his former employers as he insisted they are either ‘not good enough or they don’t care enough’.
The Danish icon, who retired at City after the 2002-03 campaign, was watching the Manchester derby for BBC Radio 5 Live.
Giving his assessment of the match, he said: “I thought Rangnick should have changed things at half-time.

“He may have had words, but the second half was worse. At no point were United in the game apart from on the scoreline.
“Far too many players are either not good enough, or don’t care enough.
“Having an interim manager means he can’t do much. He knows he’s not going to be there, so what can he change?
“Manchester City were majestic, but they haven’t had to work that hard for it and I think that will hurt United most.”
Schmeichel’s former United team-mate Roy Keane was also heavily critical of the team following a ‘shameful’ performance.
The Sky Sports pundit blasted: “There was players there and we’re watching it live, and I’m looking at them getting really frustrated watching it.
“I forgive mistakes, but you’ve got to run back. There’s players, five or six players should never play for United again. Just shameful.
“Shameful that you can’t run back and you can’t put your body on the line.
“I forgive the lack of quality against Man City in the second half because Man City are excellent, they’ve been excellent for the last three, four five years they’re a fantastic team. That’s why they’re the champions.
“But Man Utd in a derby match today? The subs coming on, you’re hoping they’ll have an impact. They’re not prepared to run around.”
And Gary Neville believes the ‘spiritless’ dressing room is close to breaking point.
