A new poll has found that almost half of Trump voters would leave the Republican party if Trump were to create a new one.
Trump, who received more votes than any Republican presidential nominee in U.S history, continues to be highly esteemed by his passionate base.
The survey found that 46 percent of Trump voters would support Trump if he created a hypothetical third party. On the other hand, 27 percent said they would remain with the Republican Party over the third party.
In an interview with USA Today, 27-year-old Brandon Keidl, a Trump supporter from Wisconsin who is among those who would join a Trump-led third party, shared that he feels that the GOP has failed their supporters.
“Republicans don’t fight enough for us and we all see Donald Trump fighting for us as hard as he can, every single day,” Keidel contended.
He also denounced establishment Republicans who “just agree with establishment Democrats and everything, and they don’t ever push back.”
Regarding loyalty, more than half of people surveyed would rather be loyal to Trump than the Republican party (54 vs 34 percent).
Additionally, 80 percent of Trump supporters said they were unlikely to vote for a GOP candidate who voted to impeach the former President, who has since been acquitted. Conversely, 6 percent expressed support for a candidate who voted for impeachment.
When asked if Trump should run for president again in 2024, 59 percent of voters said yes while 29 percent said no.
Last week, Suffolk University and USA Today conducted the survey of 1,000 Trump voters, taken by landline and cellphone on Monday through Friday.
Trump will be making his first post-presidential appearance at the annual Conservative Political Action Conference(CPAC) this week in Orlando, Florida. Trump, who’s a featured speaker, is expected to deliver a public address at the conference.
Other featured speakers include former Sec. of State Mike Pompeo, ACU Chairman Matt Schlapp, former U.S. Secretary of Housing and Urban Development Dr. Ben Carson, South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem and Florida Gov. Ron Desantis.
