The Equine Disease Communication Center released the following update on the EHV-1 quarantine at two barns at Remington Park, which has been in place since November:
An additional 29 horses were released from quarantine. These horses completed 14 days with no exposure to an EHV-1 positive horse, no fevers, no symptoms compatible with EHV-1, and two negative tests 7 days apart. These horses were from the second quarantine barn but were moved to separate barns after the race meet ended.
Thirty horses remain in quarantine. An additional two horses in the second quarantine barn tested positive for EHV-1 and were moved to the isolation barn.
We currently have 11 exposed horses in the Isolation Barn. Information to date continues to reinforce timely reporting and a quick response by Remington Park officials was successful in containing the virus to the two initial quarantined barns. Enhanced biosecurity measures and twice daily temperature monitoring are in place. Oklahoma Department of Agriculture, Food and Forestry personnel are on-site and continue to monitor the situation.
