PRACTICE AT ONDREJ NEPALA ARENA
Team USA had a 60-minute practice today at Ondrej Nepala Arena in Bratislava at 2 p.m. local time.
U.S. head coach John Hynes, who is the bench boss of the NHL’s Minnesota Wild, has assistant coach Jack Capuano working with the Team USA penalty kill, while fellow assistant coach Derek Lalonde is leading the U.S. power play efforts. The U.S. staff also includes assistant coach Ty Hennes, goaltending coach Alex Westlund and video coach Mike King.
Three Team USA players — Zach Werenski, Johnny Gaudreau, and Luke Kunin – were part of the 2019 U.S. Men’s National Team that played here in the 2019 IIHF Men’s World Championship. The U.S. contested its preliminary round games that year in Kosice, Slovakia, and moved to Ondrej Nepala Arena for its quarterfinal game, which it dropped by a 4-3 count to Russia. John Hynes was an assistant coach for that team.
