The excitement at Torrey Pines has been evident all week, but the proceedings at the 2021 U.S. Open will take take on a more serious tenor for Saturday’s third round. Third round tee times will be determined after the conclusion of Round 2 Friday night. Once they are released they will be reproduced at the bottom of this post.
Predicting tee times for U.S. Open Round 3
Though we don’t know the exact tee times for Round 3 yet, we can get a good idea of what they’ll be by looking to U.S. Opens past. The 2019 U.S. Open at Pebble Beach is a good stand-in, given that it occurred in June and on the West Coast, as is the case at this year’s championship.
At the halfway point back in 2019, eventual winner Gary Woodland held a two-shot lead over Justin Rose. They also occupied the final pairing that Saturday on the Monterey Peninsula, teeing off at 5:45 p.m. ET (2:45 p.m. ET local time). Louis Oosthuizen, who is contending this year, teed off in the second-to-last pairing at Pebble at 5:34 p.m. ET.
As for when the round got underway, Justin Walters, who played solo in the opening group, started at 10:36 a.m. ET (7:36 a.m. ET).
Barring any complications caused by inclement weather, we can expect tee times for Saturday’s third round at Torrey Pines to be similar to the ones we saw at Pebble Beach two years ago.
