Shams Charania: Sources have revealed the 2021 NBA All-Star reserves to The Athletic.

West: Chris Paul, Paul George, Damian Lillard, Donovan Mitchell, Rudy Gobert, Zion Williamson, Anthony Davis

East: James Harden, Julius Randle, Jayson Tatum, Jaylen Brown, Zach LaVine, Ben Simmons, Nikola Vucevic

Notable All-Star reserve snubs: Atlanta’s Trae Young, Phoenix’s Devin Booker, Philadelphia’s Tobias Harris, San Antonio’s DeMar DeRozan. The West squad will receive a replacement player should Anthony Davis miss the All-Star Game.

‘Elam Ending’ returns: The NBA announced on Thursday that it will once again use the ‘Elam Ending’ format in this year’s All-Star Game. The league announced full details for the March 7 All-Star Game in Atlanta, with all events taking place over one night. The game will follow the same format as last year, with teams competing to win each quarter before playing to a final target score during an untimed fourth quarter. For the second consecutive year, the league will honor Kobe Bryant by setting the final target score at 24 points above the leading team’s score after three quarters.

Shams Charania: De’Aaron Fox, an All-Star reserve candidate, clarified and reflected on his comments on the All-Star Game in a conversation with Shams, after having earlier criticized the plans: “Guys are grateful if they’re named All-Stars. Where I stood was you bring in a bunch of players together and then somebody can end up testing positive… If I was named one, I would go.”

Shams Charania: Sources tell The Athletic that the NBA plans to hold the 3-point competition and Skills Challenge during pregame of the March 7 All-Star Game in Atlanta, and the Dunk Contest at halftime.
