Two rounds are complete, the cut has been made, and the survivors are set to start Moving Day at the 2021 American Express. Here’s what you need to know to watch the third round.

Previewing American Express Round 3

In Thursday’s opening round in California, Tony Finau set himself up for success with a four-under 68. On Friday, Finau positioned himself for a shot at the title. The long-hitting 31-year-old Tour pro fired a near-flawless round of six-under 66 in the second round on the Nicklaus Tournament Course, leaving him just one shot off the lead heading into Round 3.

If Finau wants to take over the lead on Saturday, one player he will need to get by is Sungjae Im. Im captured his first Tour win at the 2020 Honda Classic in what was a breakthrough year for the 2018-19 Rookie of the Year. Im is backing up that success this week, shooting 68-65 to take a one-shot lead over Finau, Nick Taylor, Abraham Ancer, Si Woo Kim and first-round leader Brandon Hagy, all of whom find themselves at 10 under.

Another player to look out for on Saturday is Francesco Molinari. Molinari (nine under) is looking to get back to the form that won him the 2018 Open and led him to the top of the game.
