2020 Nissan Titan Brings More Power To State Fair Of Texas

For Nissan, everything’s more powerful in Texas. Or, at the very least, that description applies to the new 2020 Nissan Titan, which debuted at the State Fair of Texas today. The refreshed pick-up truck is now powered by a 5.6-liter V8 engine that, when burning premium gasoline, produces 400 horsepower and 413 pound-feet of torque. Both horsepower and torque ratings are the best in class, Nissan says, based on the various base models in the large pickup segment as defined by Ward’s.

Nissan says the V8 uses two technologies to produce more power. First is Nissan’s VVEL (Variable Valve Event & Lift) technology, which adjusts valve lift on the intake side to, “provide high performance and crisp response.” Second is Direct Injection Gas (DIG) technology for “better wide-open throttle performance and improved fuel economy and emissions performance.” The name of this V8 engine? Endurance.

In the Titan, Endurance is paired up with a new 9-speed automatic transmission (up from a 7-speed in the last Titan) and comes with Hill Descent Control (on the PRO-4X trim only) and Hill Start Assist if you’re driving on non-flat surfaces.

Nissan didn’t reserve its He-Man naming fun for the engine. The theme for the exterior design of the 2020 Titan is “Powerful Warrior.” That means an emphasis on the truck’s solid-beam construction as well as giving lots of space for the largest daytime running lights Nissan has ever made. There are also three different grille designs available. The front bumper, fog lights, badges and wheel designs have all also been updated for the new look.

There will be two body configurations for the new Titan – King Cab and Crew Cab – as well as five trim levels: S, SV, PRO-4X, SL and Platinum Reserve. Nine exterior paint colors will be available, three of which are new. The 2020 Titan will be available with 4×2 or 4×4 drive configurations and Nissan Safety Shield 360 will be standard on all grade levels.

The inside of the 2020 Titan is more deluxe than the off-road look might imply. There’s an available nine-inch touchscreen that is compatible with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a WiFi hub that can connect to up to six devices at once and you can get a 12-speaker Fender Premium Audio System as well. You want to ride in comfort out on the trail, right?

The 2020 Titan goes on sale in early 2020.
