CARMICHAEL, Calif. (AP) – Two people were stabbed to death and two others wounded Friday in an attack at a Sacramento-area mental health center and one person was taken into custody, authorities said.
A man and a woman died at the scene Friday afternoon at the Wellness and Recovery Center in Carmichael, according to the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office.
Two other people were taken to hospitals but there was no immediate word on their conditions.
The person in custody was known at the center and apparently knew the victims, authorities said.
However, it wasn’t immediately clear whether they were clients, staff members or visitors.
There was no immediate word on what sparked the attack.
The non-profit Wellness and Recovery Center provides programs for mental health support and rehabilitation, such as coping with anxiety and depression. The facility also works with the homeless, according to its website.
